My Story

My story is unique - only in that it is my story - and your story is unique too. Events in my life have given me the much needed reminder, that so many of us don't get, that this is not a rehearsal, life is not about waiting for things to change, we have to be our own change.
After a 22 year career in financial services, I consciously made a change to focus on the world of the charity sector, which also became a catalyst to serving on a range of boards, including as Chair. With good health on my side, it's time for a change again. Taking almost 4 decades of professional organisational experience and investing the entirety of that into the world of creative arts, and in particular music artist management. It is an absolute privilege to reinvent myself for a third time in my life, and actually come full circle to meet my teenage self, who was completely invested in performing, whether that be singing, solo and choral, violin, classical and Scots traditional, or piano. Countless concerts, opportunities to perform overseas, and the very occasional fee!
I remain frustrated by the inequalities across the UK, and the world, and this shows up so often in the creative arts world. As an artist manager, I cannot wave a magic wand and change the imbalance in the industry, but I can make sure that if royalties are due then you will get them. I can be a voice that will ensure you are heard in a busy and noisy industry. I can be the person that simply takes the dull, but vital, admin duties away from you and ensure you invest 100% into the creative process. My personal purpose is to 'be the amplifier that can increase the volume for unheard voices, and help them to lead their best possible life.’
I'm simply someone with a fair amount of experience and knowledge, and if giving you some of that helps, then let's talk about how we do that. As the saying goes, 'what's the BEST that can happen?'
My name's Stewart McCombe. In summary, my message to you is, thank you for reading, and how can I help?

Current Roles
Since leaving my banking career in 2009, I have sought to have roles that focus on, and maximise, social impact. This has involved me serving on a number of boards, across different sectors, providing me with insight and experience of how to do it, and how not to do it! Board membership is hugely rewarding, as well as challenging, and coupled with my finance experience, has now led me to tutor on the subject(s).
As well as financial services, through my board roles I have enjoyed learning about the arts, leisure, social care, social investment, our green spaces and social inclusion. My tutoring work allows me to perform! Exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up.
My roles evolve and develop over time, which keeps my network contemporary, linked to a range of leaders locally, nationally and internationally. So from both my current and past roles, I can offer connections to others, guidance on working on/with boards, or insight to a complete career change! This can be done in a range of informal or formal ways, from a coffee to a course, either directly with myself or through the products provided via the organisations I work with.
In summary, what can I do to help you have The Performance Of Your Life?
